Eating out with allergies
Eating out when you have food allergies/intolerances can be difficult. You should always check with your waiter or waitress whether the food you would like to order contains anything you are trying to avoid. Ask them to check with the chef if necessary. You may find it easier to phone up in advance to explain and pre-order your meal.
However, if you are in any doubt about the ingredients it’s better to avoid that dish or indeed eating in any establishment that does not give you confidence that the staff know and understand the importance of the information you are giving them.
